My work explores alternative processes on unconventional material as a vehicle to show pleasure within queer and trans identity. My materials and process are as “othered” as my identity and I find companionship in their ability to adapt and transition to artistic material with deep conceptual purpose. A condom will deteriorate, napkins will lose pigment from light exposure, and my body will one day decompose with no evidence of my transness. Scanning these art pieces allow them to live on past their expiration and act as an archive for queers to come. Digital replications of printed material are enlarged and given text to emphasize existence, personhood, and presence. Kink is a grounding act, reminding my body that it is alive and can experience joy, euphoria, ecstasy, comfort, and kinship all in its transgender form.
